In a season of transition or decline, call it what you will, it is compounded by the fact that it has coincided with our two fiercest and most hated rivals challenging for the title! It’s like pouring petrol on an open wound, never mind salt.
I’m sat in the Main Stand directly opposite the United end. Two other reds are on the same row, equally incognito, trying to avoid getting rumbled like we did a couple of years back. The United Way’s whistle stop summary of a brilliant three days in Munich having made the most of the last European Cup game for at least 16 months….
It was the European Cup Winners Cup Quarter Final 2nd leg and a mountain to climb for United. After losing 2-0 to Maradona’s Barcelona, we needed to get out of the blocks quickly. Thankfully we did although Martin Tyler struggled early on. Continue reading
