A Red Abroad, Part One

I have a knack for suspiciously avoiding United’s more forgettable campaigns. I study German and French, a course which includes two years abroad on the so-called ‘Erasmus’ programme. I was based in Germany and France respectively, as the Aguero winner and Moyes debacle unfolded. Sandwiched neatly in between I was back in Manchester for the 2012-13 season and barely missed a game as United made it an historic twenty.

So said James Carville back in 1992 when he was advising Democratic Party leader Bill Clinton on how best to attack the Republican party’s 12 year grip on power. He was right of course. We westerners are prepared to take a lot of shit from a lot of politicians, but take the dollar from our pockets and they will suffer. Economy 1-0 George Bush Snr.
